2.Campus

Monroe Park
Most of VCU’s educational resources are located at the Monroe Park campus, the eastern end of Richmond’s fan district. Built in the early 20th century, the Fan District is an old and historic town close to the city center. The Monroe Park campus stretches from Monroe Park on the north side of Belvidere Street to Harrison Street in the west, with major buildings clustered between West Broad Street and Main Street.

This area was originally the campus of Richmond Professional College, then officially became the college campus of Virginia Commonwealth University in 1986, and officially changed its name to Monroe Park Campus in June 2004. Until today, Virginia Commonwealth University is still expanding its campus. The current construction plan includes the renewal of the business school, the second phase of the engineering College, and the construction of the School of Nursing. A new community college campus and new parking lots, plans to update the Seabass building, and more.

Medical college
The Medical College of Virginia campus is an integral part of Richmond, adjacent to the major financial and business districts of downtown, and very close to the Virginia Asian Government Building. The School of Medicine campus is home to all of VCU’s health science-related departments, including the departments of Medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, and other health related departments, a public medical school in development, and an attached hospital, which is the most important element in all of VCU’s health systems. VCU Massey Cancer Center (NIC Accredited and designated Cancer Center) is also located on the campus.
