Founded in 1913, the American College of Surgeons (ACS) is an educational and scientific association of surgeons dedicated to improving the quality of care for surgical patients by setting high standards of surgical education and practice. ACS currently has more than 80,000 members (academicians) worldwide, including more than 6,600 from outside the United States, making it the largest organization of surgeons in the world.
