Located in the city of Bristol upon Avon in southwest England, the University of Bristol traces its history back to the founding of the University College of Bristol in 1876. It was granted a Royal charter in 1909. It is one of the six “red brick” institutions of higher learning in the UK and a member of the Russell Group of British universities.
